Peatland is often made up of hard to reach, boggy, wildlife-rich areas. But due to peat harvesting, wildfires, farming and natural erosion, these areas now need restoring.
Hitting these areas using drones rather than large machinery means we don't damage or disturb any of the surrounding environment during the process!
Some peatland sites are quite complex and seeding operations require a lot of planning. Not only because of the high value seed, but because not all areas require seeding, and some areas may need a different seed mix to others.
All patchwork, spot spreading and variable rate spreading is possible using the right software. PIX-4D enables us to generate maps so the XAG drone can automatically spread the seed in targeted areas. This map is from a recent project where we had to spot spread 3 different seed mixes on target areas.
The seed used in Peatland Restoration varies from site to site, however with our experience and technically minded team, we make sure that all mixes are calibrated and tray tested before starting a job. This ensures a good, even coverage and that no seed is wasted during the process.
This image shows a seed mix, where we used cat litter to bulk up the product, which gave us a more accurate application rate (kg/hectare), and spread pattern.
Our "Beyond Visual Line of Sight" (BVLOS) certification now enables us to fly where others cant, meaning we can tackle the larger, more challenging jobs!
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
