Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at s.blakey@bpagservicesltd.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

This includes precision application of fertilisers, micronutrients, and approved chemicals using our XAG P100 Pro drone technology. The cost varies based on field size, terrain complexity, and specific products being applied. We provide free quotes for all agricultural drone services across Church Fenton and surrounding areas.

Yes, comprehensive agricultural drone insurance is essential and legally required. Our BP Ag Services team carries full commercial drone insurance including Part 137 aerial application coverage, hull insurance for equipment protection, and general liability coverage up to £5 million. This protects both our operations and your property during all drone spraying and spreading activities.

Currently, all fertilisers and micronutrients can be applied via drone at flat or variable rates. For pesticides, only products without MAPP numbers are permitted. We work closely with the Chemical Regulations Department (CRD) as more agricultural chemicals receive drone application approval. Our team stays updated on all legal requirements and approved products.

We take confidentiality very seriously and will not share any client information without their explicit consent.

GPS soil sampling provides significantly higher precision than conventional pooled sampling methods. Our GPS grid sampling creates detailed nutrient maps showing variations across 1-hectare blocks, enabling variable rate applications that can save a substanial amount per hectare in fertiliser costs whilst increasing yields by up to 15%. This precision allows targeted treatment only where needed.

Precision agriculture offers substantial advantages including reduced input costs, improved crop yields, better environmental sustainability, and enhanced decision-making capabilities. Our drone services help Yorkshire farmers overcome challenges like shrinking weather windows, soil compaction from heavy machinery, and volatile market conditions whilst maintaining optimal crop nutrition and protection.

Absolutely - this is one of the key advantages of agricultural drones. Our XAG P100 Pro can operate over wet ground and waterlogged fields where conventional tractors would cause soil compaction or get stuck. This enables timely applications during critical growing periods, ensuring optimal crop establishment and protection regardless of ground conditions.

Our professional agricultural drones achieve cover crop spreading rates of 8–10 hectares per hour. This year, our largest single-day operation completed 85 hectares over 11 hours, across 6 fields and 2 powerlines. Fertiliser spreading rates depend on application rates. For spraying at 150 litres per hectare, we can cover 4–5 hectares per hour. Coverage rates vary based on field conditions and weather, but our high efficiency reduces downtime and helps farmers complete operations including time-sensitive tasks like cover crop seeding during optimal windows.

All BP Ag Services drone pilots hold comprehensive certifications including CAA commercial drone licences, P1 pesticide handling certification, and specialised agricultural drone training. Our team maintains operational authorisation for commercial drone operations and stays current with all Civil Aviation Authority regulations and agricultural application requirements.

Yes, drone services are highly beneficial for farms of all sizes. Small and medium farmers particularly benefit from our contract services as they gain access to cutting-edge precision agriculture technology without the capital investment of purchasing equipment. Our services are cost-effective for fields as small as 1 hectare, making precision farming accessible to all Yorkshire agricultural operations.

Drone applications significantly enhance agricultural sustainability through precise product placement, reduced chemical usage, zero soil compaction, and decreased fuel consumption. Our technology enables targeted applications only where needed, reducing environmental impact whilst maintaining crop health. This supports sustainable farming initiatives and helps Yorkshire farmers meet environmental stewardship requirements.

We believe in promoting sustainable agriculture practices that protect natural resources and support long-term profitability for farmers.
